Solidarity event to benefit the Marytykwawara Awaeté (Assurini) Indigenous People

The Anarchist Art Festival in the Anarchist Book Fair, with support from the Defend Democracy in Brazil Committee and The Living Theatre, helped raise donations in its 2019 events at the 13th Anarchist Art Festival.

The Festival took place on September 6-7, 2019 at the Judson Memorial Church. It raised close to $9,000 Brazilian Reais

All funds were entirely passed in October 2019 onto the Brazilian Amazon-based Marytykwawara Awaete Indigenous People. They bought a motorized boat and relocated 250 people from their community in the region of the Northern Xingu, to a safer location, not threatened by local invasions of their territory.

We thank you for all the support of those who donated, and to all of the 57 anarko-artists involved in this project!
