BRAZILIANS AND SUPPORTERS DENOUNCE NEGLIGENCE THAT IS CAUSING A COVID GENOCIDE IN BRAZIL

RALLY : SOLIDARITY WITH THE BRAZILIAN PEOPLE BOLSONARO = GENOCIDE

WHEN: SATURDAY 04/03/2021 , 4PM- 6PM

WHERE : UNION SQUARE - Manhattan - New York

Concerned Brazilian immigrants and partners in New York and the tri-state region will rally against the catastrophic situation of Brazil today. The demands include that the US and international powers of the G-20 countries call a meeting to act jointly to fight the pandemic globally, and stop the criminal acts of the Bolsonaro’s government against the Brazilian people.

Brazil passed the United States with higher daily cases and became the epicenter of the pandemic in the world registering 328 thousands cases and more than 3000 deaths a day in the last month.

Sanitary, economic and political crisis are converging to make the situation worse. Inaction and negligence have been the mark of Bolsonaro’s response.

The health system of Brazil has collapsed in 23 of its 27 States. Scientists from all over the world are concerned about the spread of the new Brazil P1 variant, and the effect that the slow rhythm of vaccinations in the country could have for other countries.

President Bolsonaro first downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic; then he made systematic cuts in the investments for the public health sector; contributed to the spread of fake news and innaction; promoted mass distribution of inneficient treatments which have been banned by the international medical communities; cut emergency financial aid to low income Brazilians, delayed the purchase of vaccines. All this is turning into a genocide in the making.

The protest has been convened by the Defend Democracy in Brazil Committee. The protesters demand that Bolsonaro be removed from office, that dozens of impeachment requests sitting in the Lower House be put to vote, that vaccine must be made available for all, emergency financial aid must be instituted immediately, emergency investments approved for the health system and a thorough plan to combat the COVID19 pandemic be instituted.

Furthermore, the protesters listened to former President Lula calling on Biden to convene the G20 -- they demand that they meet, and denounce that it is shameful that the top leading countries of the world have not yet met in one year to fight this pandemic together.
